MW | MARK WAITS PHOTOGRAPHY

The main body of my work is straight-forward, black and white, tightly cropped photographs of forgotten and overlooked places and things. I'm based in Stillwater, Oklahoma so most of my photographs are made in the Great Plains and the deserts of the Southwestern United States. I always had an appreciation for art but I was inspired in 2005 to begin photographing my travels by my late mother, Dana. Since then, I've driven countless miles across this country, listening to Americana records, and looking for imagery that speaks to me. I want to thank my lovely wife, Brandi, and our son, Jackson, for letting me explore the wide open spaces from time to time.
